Context

Located in Calais (62 - France), Pôle Moteurs Industriels (PMI) repairs and rewinds electrical motors. For about a decade, this sector has been hit by stiff competition. It is a labor-intensive industry that requires real expertise acquired through long years of experience in the field. To ensure its viability, PMI launched a Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility initiative.

APPROACH

Observations:
-    The repair of electric motors is subject to the general decline in industrial activity and competition from the emerging countries
-    The increase in energy costs at customers
-    PMI expertise and experience in rotational machines

To ensure the loyalty of its 12 employees, PMI developed an attractive social policy:
- Hiring of the unemployed, and extensive training
- An attractive salary policy in the top tier of the profession
- Numerous social benefits: restaurant vouchers, complementary insurance, enterprise savings plan, bonus scheme.

To ensure the viability of its activity, PMI decided to diversify its offer and innovate in new sectors in order to remain competitive:
-    Energy diagnosis free of charge
-    Choice with the client of the most energy-efficient technical solution
-    Supply, installation, startup and measuring for validation of gains.
