Strategy and organization
Context
Objectives
- Plan for and ensure the company's longevity
- Develop in-house personnel resources while attracting and recruiting new talent
APPROACH
The company's reorientation strategy is the outcome of a detailed assessment initiated by the CEO and then disseminated through the Executive Committee. This strategy rallies the entire company behind a Global Performance approach: management becomes participatory, employees are treated as bona fide stakeholders, a new "win-win" philosophy is instituted with suppliers, only "green" products are proposed to clients, and the company plays a greater role in helping the community's underprivileged population segments.
The keys to success of this strategy include:
- The CEO selects three operational executives to form an Executive Committee and proposes they join as company shareholders. Each member holds one vote regardless of capital share held.
This mode of governance stimulates the emergence of new competences.
- Since 2005, in addition to the annual performance interview, each employee participates in a Career Path Interview every other year, leading to developing an Individual Training Action Plan.
- Unifying values that have been adopted by all employees:
1. Self-purpose: skills and team spirit
2. Competence: professionalism and respect
- All employees are motivated to attend the cross-disciplinary Steering Committee meetings, at which each person holds one vote.
